Give me the title of a story I've never written and feedback telling me what you liked best about it, and I will tell you any or all of the following: the first sentence, the last sentence, the thing that made me want to write it, my soundtrack/theme song for writing, the biggest problem I had while writing it, why it almost never got posted, the scene that hit the cutting room floor but that I wish I'd been able to salvage, and/or something else that I want readers to know.

Or you might just get the story. Who knows?

Prompt by [profile] thebonesofferalletters:
the way we live now (all wrapped up in half truths)
This is creepy as shit and so in line with the surreal atmosphere of the show. I loved the play on reality and what that means to everyone and how there's this strange like..dialogue between the world and the people within it. How they are bending the rules and creating what is real to them. This is especially surreal/creepy with Hannibal but everyone has their moments and it's glorious.

Title: The Way We Live Now (all wrapped up in half truths)

“The problem with a half truth is that it usually is working to cover up a whole lie.”

The tension crawled up Will Graham's neckline and laced into his strong jaw. “What is a lie then, Doctor Lecter?”

“That all depends on the reality that you're working in, doesn't it?” Lecter's smile was easy and soft, almost placid if it wasn't paired with eyes that knew that they owned the universe around them. “What is it that you think you're hiding?”

In response, Graham almost growled. He adjusted himself in his seat, a more predatory pose, like a wolf ready to leap off the chair.

“Will?” Lecter pretended to not be excited....

“Reality is such a hard thing to pin down.”

My wife did a lot of playlists for this one, particularly one called In the Fold. I love a very angry, violent Will Graham, I've always felt like he was the more dangerous of the two because he lacked Hannibal's predictability.

I may actually have to write this one.
